The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has requested neurologists provide information about patients who have developed neuropathy similar to those recently reported in workers at pork processing plants in Minnesota and Indiana. The CDC has released more information, stating that the Minnesota Department of Health has initiated a detailed investigation at plant A to characterize the outbreak.

The CDC says it is possible that similar neurological illnesses are occurring at other pork processing plants. At this point, an etiologic agent has not been identified. See letter to neurologists from the CDC.
