In 2008, the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) published guidelines on the uses of botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT). New research on 4 indications—blepharospasm, cervical dystonia (CD), spasticity, and headache—prompted this update.

Reaffirmed on April 30, 2022.

Endorsed by the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
