Comprehensive Systematic Review: Treatment of Tics in People with Tourette Syndrome and Chronic Tic Disorders

Systematic Review, May 2019

Read Published Article

This article summarizes the findings of a systematic review, conducted as the foundation of an American Academy of Neurology (AAN) practice guideline on the treatment of tics in people with Tourette syndrome (TS) and chronic tic disorders. There is evidence to support the efficacy of various medical, behavioral, and neurostimulation interventions for the treatment of tics. Both the efficacy and harms associated with interventions must be considered in making treatment recommendations.

Companion to "Practice Guideline Recommendations: Treatment of Tics in People with Tourette Syndrome and Chronic Tic Disorders." Reaffirmed April 30, 2022.

Endorsed by the Child Neurology Society and the European Academy of Neurology.
