Neurologist frequently encounter patients who have neurologic signs and symptoms in context of an underlying medical illness. Neurologic disease can be seen in the setting of a known systemic illness or be the presenting manifestation of the systemic disease. The latter, in particular, can pose a diagnostic challenge and requires a sound knowledge of the neurologic manifestations of medical disease. Such patients are encountered in both the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room settings. This course will provide an overview of medical neurology (overlap areas between neurology and internal medicine) in a fast-paced, case-based format. It will cover overlap areas between neurology and medical disciplines like rheumatology, hematology, endocrinology, nutrition, gastroenterology, hepatology, cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, and toxicology.
