Practice, Policy, and Ethics
Not only is the growing burden of neurological disorders a major challenge to public health, but neurological symptoms have been associated with many recent public health emergencies including COVID-19, Zika, and Ebola. We will discuss how your day-to-day clinical practice impacts public health in ways you may not be aware of and why your actions are important at a national level. We will share how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Neurological Conditions Surveillance System (NNCSS) uses information from clinical practices across the nation to increase understanding of neurological disorders and discuss other work CDC is undertaking to support neurologists in practice settings. Finally, we will offer participants a preview of our new public health training module for neurologists.
