When children present with neurological problems one is often confronted with the question, particularly in cases of static impairment, whether to order genetic or metabolic testing and, if so, what tests to order and whether to order and attempt to interpret them with or without input from geneticists, metabolic specialists, etc. This is also an issue when treating adults with developmental disabilities.
