Leadership, Education, Research, and Methodology
Physicians are often handed leadership responsibilities without formal training, creating accidental leaders. The Gil Sl Ross Leadership Academy is a formal leadership training curriculum developed for neurology residents. It includes 36 longitudinal contact hours of training in conflict resolution, building emotional intelligence, addressing wellness, difficult conversation and other topics. This session reviews the purpose, structure, content, evaluation methods and impact of leadership training on our residents and faculty. Participants should learn the importance of leadership development for physicians and possible approaches to creating leadership curriculum.
