Education, Research, and Methodology
Health Services Research (HSR) in Neurology is evolving as an important field of study that assesses the quality, safety, efficacy, efficiency, equity, and patient centeredness of health care delivery. The American Academy of Neurology has invested heavily in developing this field through the establishment of the Health Services Research Subcommittee and its funding of multiple studies that assess the value of neurology and the effect of the continuous evolution of health care on the practicing neurologist and neurology patients. Participants should become familiar with the Academy’s approach to HSR, prior research that has influenced the field, and upcoming studies that are planned; learn which methodologies are used for study purposes and why; and, through an interactive dialogue, be able to inform the future course of action that the HSR subcommittee takes to enhance the field of neurology and the practice of neurologists.
