Annual assessment of quality of life for patients with ET

Measure purpose: Ensure quality of life is routinely assessed for patients with Essential Tremor (ET) 

The numerator: patients 18 years and older diagnosed with ET who were assessed* annually for quality of life in the 12-month measurement period

Exclusions are removed from the denominator:

  • Patients who are unable or decline to complete quality of life instrument

Measure Calculation Example

Dr. Jones sees 100 patients aged 18 years and older diagnosed with ET from January 1 to December 31. This is the denominator.

Seventeen patients are unable or decline to complete assessment. These patients are removed from the denominator (100-13) as they meet exclusions. 

Of the remaining 83 patients, 14 have a quality of life assessment completed in the measurement period. This is the numerator.

Quality of patient care = 14/(100-13). Dr. Jones has a score of 16.9% for this measure.
