Measure Calculation Example

Dr. Stewart had 80 patients with primary headache from January 1 to December 31. This is the denominator. Seven patients have a cognitive impairment and cannot participate in the survey. These patients are removed from the denominator.

Of the remaining 73 patients, 5 had a quality of life assessment during two visits in the measurement period. Three maintained their HRQoL score, one improved their HRQoL, and one decreased their HRQoL. The numerator is four (3+1).

Quality of care = (5-1)/(80-7). Dr. Stewart has a score of 5% for this measure.
