Parkinson's Disease Rehabilitative Therapy Referral

Measure purpose: Ensure patients with PD are provided appropriate rehabilitative therapy options yearly. 

The numerator: patients with a diagnosis of PD (or caregiver(s), as appropriate) who had rehabilitative therapy options (i.e., physical, occupational, and speech therapy) discussed 

is divided by

The denominator: all patients with a diagnosis of PD.

There are no exclusions for this measure.

Must document all 3 therapies to meet the measure, can document each therapy separately.


Measure Calculation Example

Dr. Kim sees 100 patients between January 1 and December with a diagnosis of PD. This is the denominator. 

Twenty-two had documentation of discussions on physical therapy, occupational therapy, AND speech therapy in the year.  This is the numerator. 

Quality of patient care = 22/100. Dr. Kim has a score of 22% for this measure.
