Learning Objectives Participants should understand the principles and challenges behind the management of neuropathic pain related to peripheral nervous system disorders. A summary of neuropathic pain mechanisms, the rationality of combination therapy to address different mechanisms of action, and costs related to opiate use and painful diabetic neuropathy will be presented. Participants should be made aware of pharmacological and alternative approaches in managing these challenging patient issues.
