Participants should appreciate the range of palliative care needs in the neurocritically ill population, and identify opportunities for integration of palliative care in the ICU. Participants should also develop techniques to address the challenges of communicating prognostic information to families of acute brain injury patients, establish a framework for conducting effective family meetings for patients in the ICU, and identify best practices surrounding palliative extubation for neurocritically ill patients.
