General Neurology
Creativity is the new understanding or novel development and systematic expression of orderly relationships. Human creativity has made, and will continue to make, great changes in our lives and in the world in which we live. There are several major stages in the creative process including preparation, where a person acquires the knowledge and skills required for creativity, disengagement and divergent thinking, convergent thinking, and productivity. Diseases that alter brain function can both impair and enhance creativity. This program will discuss the brain mechanisms that mediate the creative process and how neurologic disorders may alter these functions.
