Do you remember dying from dysentery playing the Oregon Trail? Did your children play academic computer games while at home during COVID? Do you play Wordle or AAN's Question of the Day? Games, simulations, or gamification have been a part of the learning landscape since the Apple IIe came home and to school computer labs everywhere. Now games are as ubiquitous as smart phones and have profound potential for education based on sound learning theory, education psychology, and neuroscience. Whether it is for you, your students, trainees, or even your patients, gamification can enhance meaningful learning. Participants will learn about the role and elements of gamification for learning motivation, understand the role of serious games and simulations in learning, and select appropriate and innovative learning formats for their curricula and how they might incorporate it into their life.
