Conflict resolution in an academic department requires an organized and equitable process that fosters open and respectful communication between all parties. Participants should gain an understanding of strategies to create a communicative infrastructure for conflict awareness, an action plan for vetting of concerns, actions, behaviors, or other sources of conflict in the academic environment, and a transparent mechanism for conflict resolution. Participants will be encouraged to share experiences (anonymized). The importance of guidance from institutional human resource department staff will be emphasized, as well as best practices in terms of documentation.
