General Neurology
Participants should be able to identify and describe neurologic control mechanisms; understand and articulate the neuroanatomy and physiology governing bladder control, including the roles of the autonomic and somatic nervous systems; diagnose bladder dysfunction in neurologic diseases; understand the neurologist's role in diagnosing bladder dysfunction and when other diagnostic tools, such as urodynamic tests, are needed; accurately identify and localize various types of bladder dysfunction present in different neurologic conditions; evaluate treatment options for bladder dysfunction; assess the efficacy and appropriateness of various treatment modalities, including pharmaceutical treatments and interventions like sacral neuromodulation, for managing bladder dysfunction; implement management strategies for neurogenic bladder; develop a multidisciplinary approach to managing neurogenic bladder, incorporating behavioral and lifestyle changes, the use of assistive devices, and long-term care considerations; and apply knowledge through case studies to demonstrate the ability to critically analyze, discuss, and propose suitable management strategies for complex clinical scenarios related to bladder dysfunction in various neurologic diseases.
