James R. Bateman III, MD
General Neurology
Brain health has recently been championed by the AAN and is a growing concept that neurologists are tasked with understanding and advising on. Some of the concepts, such as managing vascular risk factors, are intuitive and natural topics of medical conversation, while others are less so. The idea of well-being, loneliness, and living a good life (in the Aristotelian sense) are also important aspects of brain health. This talk will discuss what it means to ‘live a good life’ and discusses mental health and flourishing. Such concepts are grounded in molecular and physiological changes that are well-recognized to impact human health, including brain health.
