Measure Calculation Example

Dr. Martin sees 100 patients between January 1 and December 31 aged 18 years and older diagnosed with ET. This is the denominator.

Three patients declined to discuss pharmacological treatment options, and five patients were unable to engage in the discussion and did not have a caretaker present. These 8 (5+3) patients are removed from the denominator as they meet exclusion criteria.

Of the 92 patients that qualify for this measure, 37 had documentation of a discussion about pharmacological treatment option in the year. This is the numerator.

Quality of patient care = 37/(100-8). Dr. Martin has a score of 40.2% for this measure.
